Life’s a Beach.. So here’s my Top 5

After much deliberation I’ve ranked the top 5 beaches I’ve visited.

Worthy contenders which narrowly missed the top 5 include

Ipanema Beach, Rio, Brazil
South Beach, Miami, Florida,
Camps Bay, Cape Town, South Africa
Towan Beach, Newquay, England

So here we go…..

1. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Whitehaven beach is paradise on earth! What makes it so special is how secluded it is, its protected beach on an island which means you won’t find any hotels or restaurants or bars or anything. Just the softest, finest white sand with crystal clear waters. If you get there early enough you won’t even find many people.

You can only access the island by boat and people aren’t allowed to stay the night there. The surrounding waters are full of tropical fish, dolphins, Turtles and even whales if your there in the right season.

2. Nungwi Beach, Zanzibar, Tanzania

A close second is Nungwi beach. Unlike Whitehaven, Nungwi Beach is lined with hotels built onto the surrounding rocks and propped up with wooden stilts! The rock formations along the coast add a unique feel and you can walk along the beach for miles!

3. Koh Nang Yuan, Koh Tao, Thailand

Although Koh Nang Yuan is only small and packed with tourists it is stunning and definitely not to be missed. Its unlike any other beach I’ve seen, the beach itself lies between 3 small rocky islands which are connected by a strip of sand.. Pretty cool!!

4. Agonda Beach, Goa, India

Goa has the ultimate hippy chill out vibe! Great atmosphere, Great nightlife and Great beaches! One of the best beaches in India and even Asia, Agonda Beach is serene and clean. Agonda is relatively less crowded than the other beaches in Goa and that means privacy and loads of opportunities to escape and chill. Just be wary of cows!

You can stay in a cool beach hut for £10 a night and don’t forget to do a spot of Dolphin spotting.

5. Cancun, Mexico

I went to Cancun during spring break last year and stayed at the Riu (amazing hotel). With white sand beaches, warm clear blue waters and a great lively atmosphere you can’t go wrong! The beaches are lined with hotels each claiming their own section of the beach. If your after an isolated beach off the beaten track then Cancun isn’t for you. However if you want to sunbathe on a lounger being served cocktails whilst listening to chill out tunes then you will love it!

    Hi Terry,
Thanks for the post. I definitely want to visist Zanzibar. The beaches look amazing. White sand.. azure water.. just a few people. Hope to visit this place some day. But I have to say it’s very similar to Maldives beaches.
It’s easy to go to this place with a small budget. As I did.

Oh, wow! I wish I could do my own list of 5 top beaches and at least one of these to be there! Can’t say which one is the best, they all look fabulous. My favourite beach in Bulgaria is Smokinya – a real heaven, and Banana Beach at Zakynthos, Greece.
